A refocus on where my passions lie.....
After many years of working in the corporate world for other companies, I decided not to put all my eggs in one basket any more. I felt as though I had sold my soul for the high-paying job that took way more than 40 hours of my life each week, leaving me little time for anything else and not refilling my cup. I wanted to get back in touch with who I am- who I have always been. I wanted balance back. I wanted to fill my world with the diverse sides of me and refocus where my passions lie.
My creative side has kept me busy when I had the time and energy to devote to it. I am an avid photographer of mostly landscapes and animals from all of my years of traveling. I am a self taught artist who has taken the occasional art class over the years. I have been drawing all my life, mostly in ink, and 'discovered' my love of colored pencils a few years ago.
I have always had a love of animals and began my colored pencil work from many of my own photos taken at zoos as well as on my travels. I then incorporated my family pets as my art subjects and soon friends and family were asking me to draw their pets.
Pet portraits were next in the natural progression and I cannot imagine anything else that is as rewarding as capturing the essence of someone's best friend on paper to last a lifetime. Since
following my passion in art, I am excited to be back doing work that nurtures my soul.
You may recognize me out and about - I am usually the one with my cameras or sketchbook in hand following my passions. If you see me, stop and chat for awhile. Looking forward to talking with you...
